Crowdfunding

This section is about North Carolina’s own intrastate crowdfunding law, the NC PACES Act.

The North Carolina Providing Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs and Small Business (NC PACES) Act is a state law that allows local businesses and startups to raise capital through investment crowdfunding. Passed by the North Carolina General Assembly in 2016, this act creates an exemption from registration for securities offered by local businesses seeking funds from local investors using crowdfunding. Under this law, any investor residing in North Carolina can invest up to $5,000 in an NC PACES securities offering.

The law can be found at: https://www.sosnc.gov/documents/forms/securities/S_481- PACES_ACT_portions_only.pdf
