The NC Secretary of State is the repository for deeds of property acquired by the State (with the exception of property acquired by the NC Department of Transportation). These deeds are also filed with the Register of Deeds in the county where the property is located.

State-owned properties are managed by the NC Department of Administration's State Property Office, and their website also contains an Online Mapping Service and database of these properties searchable by State Department/Division, County and Street Address, Complex Name, and File Numbers.
