Expedited Fee Information

The Secretary of State shall guarantee the expedited filing of a document upon receipt of the document in proper form and the payment of the required filing fee by the Examination Unit. The Secretary of State may collect the following additional fees for the expedited filing of a document received in good form:

  • Two hundred dollars ($200.00) for the filing by the end of the same business day of a document received by 12:00 noon Eastern Standard Time; and
  • One hundred dollars ($100.00) for the filing of a document within 24 hours after receipt, excluding weekends and holidays

Filing the document or notifying the filer of a rejected document satisfies the expedited request. There are no refunds of the expedited fee after the document has been processed.

Paper Transactions

  • Invoices are due and payable no later than 30 days from invoiced date. Failure to pay the entire invoice within the aforementioned time will result in an interest charge of 5% per year until the invoice is paid, as mandated by G.S. 147-86.23. An additional 10% penalty for late payment shall also be due on invoices not paid within 30 days.
  • There is also a $35.00 processing fee for all returned checks.

Online Transactions

  • The $3.00 electronic filing fee for credit cards is non-refundable. The electronic fee for ACH transactions is $2.00 and is also non-refundable.
  • There is also a return fee of $35.00 for any uncollectable online filing fee.
