General Counsel Manual
Public Records and Meetings
The NC Secretary of State General Counsel Public Records and Meetings page provides information about the NC Open Meetings Law (Chap. 143, Article 33C) and the Secretary of State Public Meeting Calendar.
It also lists three statutory public bodies for which public meeting notices are included on the calendar: Electronic Recording Council, Land Records Advisory Committee, and Constitutional Amendments Publication Commission.
To learn more about these statutory bodies, see What are the boards that the Secretary of State is responsible for?
NOTE: Secretary Marshall may establish advisory committees. The regular public meeting schedules for those committees will also be posted on the calendar.
At the bottom of the Public Meetings and Records page there is a link “Requesting Public Records from Us.”
Litigation
The Litigation page has information about the NC Secretary of State and litigation. The Secretary of State is represented by the NC Attorney General and the attorneys of the Department of Justice when the Department is involved in litigation.
